Structured Settlement Payment

A structured
settlement payment is what you
receive when you have been unlawfully wronged
by another party, often a corporation or
organization. This can range from anything from
car accidents, on the job injury, or injury
caused by a faulty product or service. A
structured settlement is simply a legal
agreement in which an individual or
organization settles with a party that has
filed a claim against them In order to settle
the claim, the offending party makes structured
payments to the claimant, rather than one lump
sum payment. Most individuals and organizations
carry some sort of insurance to deal with just
such occasions.

Just about everyone has been in a car
accident. In today’s world, it’s almost impossible not to be in
an accident at some point in your life. If you are severely
injured in an accident in which you were not at fault, you may
be entitled to a structured settlement. If so, you will begin
receiving monthly payments after all the bureaucratic red tape
has been waded through and settled.
Another horrible experience is an on the
job injury. If you are injured on the job through no fault of
your own, you may also be entitled to a settlement. If you and
your lawyer (and you undoubtedly will need one to help you
navigate the legal system) can prove that your employer was at
fault, you will probably start receiving structured settlement
payments.
Faulty products are simply a fact of
life, but it is one thing for a product to simply be faulty and
quite another for it to cause harm to consumers. These things
do happen, however and many companies have had to make
settlements with their consumers. This is why there are now
safety signs on every cup of coffee you buy at your local
drive-thru. If the company didn’t warn you that the coffee was
hot and you spilt it on your lap and burned yourself, they can
be held liable. Though this may sound frivolous, it is the rule
of law. For more serious cases, such as new drugs that cause
serious unforeseen side-effects, settlements are a very
realistic way for consumers to recoup the losses caused by a
faulty product that they put their trust in.
Conclusion
If you have been unlawfully harmed in
some way by an individual or organization, you may indeed be
entitled to a structured settlement payment. A crazy driver, an
untested piece of equipment, an improperly tested product—all
of these things can lead to a situation in which someone else
is harmed. In such cases, it is best that if you are on the
receiving end you contact a lawyer before moving forward. If
you move ahead on your own, you may end up getting taken
advantage of by the other party’s legal team or insurance
company. By getting a lawyer on your side, you can guarantee
that you won’t be making any uneducated mistakes. If it turns
out that you have a legitimate case, you may be receiving a
structured
settlement payment.
